St Stephens is a Christian faith community . We profess faith in Jesus as our Lord and savior, cherish and preach the priority of God's love and grace as taught by our traditions namesake and founder Martin Luther way back in the 1500s.
Our worship services are pretty traditional while our theology is a blend of traditional and modern. Yes, you'll almost always hear wonderful organ music! We welcome all to participate in our celebration of Holy Communion, we accept and encourage both men and women in all roles of ministry. We try and follow Christ's command to love everyone, support and defend the powerless and oppressed, and leave judging to God. We We are part of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, www.elca.org)
We admit we are on the smaller side. At St Stephens you won't get lost - you will get cared for!

St Stephens is located just south of the rural town of Gold Hill, NC. We've been here since 1837.
